Melanie Coffey

Melanie Coffey is a Chicago-based playwright and filmmaker from Connecticut. She earned her MFA from Northwestern University in 2020 and has had her work performed, read, and/or screened in cities across the country, the UK, and Canada. In Chicago she has been lucky to work with Artemisia Theater, Avalanche Theater, Theater L'Acadie, Pocket Theater, PrideArts, Redtwist Theater, and Red Theater. Specializing in climate stories, her survival play, Time Is a Color and the Color Is Blue, had its world premiere production with Avalanche Theater, and her dirt play, Deserted, is currently having its run this summer at Redtwist Theatre.
