Cristal Chanelle Truscott

Cristal Chanelle Truscott, PhD, is a playwright, director, culture worker, scholar, founder of Progress Theatre, and creator of SoulWork - a generative method for making performance, nurturing community, and training artists that is rooted in generations-old African American performance traditions. She is a recipient of the Doris Duke Impact Artist Award, United States Artist Award, Creative Capital Award, MAP Fund, NPN Creation Fund, NEFA National Theatre Project Grant, and a former Social Impact Artist-in-Residence at the John F. Kennedy Center. She has held positions at Spelman College and Prairie View A&M University and is currently an Associate Professor at Northwestern University.
